Things like the Kyousuke silhouette and Homura's reaction to the question of her wish aside, there're things like Kyubey very adroitly not actually answering Sayaka when she asks if Witches are different from Magical Girls, a shot where it looks like Mami is holding her head in her lap, and the (obviously coincidental, but still humorous) "Speak of the devil" when Homura walks into the classroom. It's little things like those that make this show so worth re-watching.

Also, morbid curiosity: Are you working from the sub, or the dub?TheWonkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09681198950892422938noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5106243389695628804.post-76312555088755375462014-01-23T20:54:28.504-05:002014-01-23T20:54:28.504-05:00It's funny, when I watched it the first time i...It's funny, when I watched it the first time it didn't even occur to me that she was "showing off", but I just rewatched it and wow. It's not quite so obvious during the witch battle since the only showy bit is the flips at the start (standard fare for the genre) and smugly announcing her presence before attacking (foolish but easy to miss). But when she's going through the labyrinth she's barely even paying attention to the familiars, looking right at her friends and smiling as she dispatches a batch. She's lucky to have survived *this* episode. Compared for Homura, who is a cheating cheater who cheats and always goes straight for the big guns, the difference is pretty huge.Brickmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05205279994171209511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5106243389695628804.post-40558453293209260772014-01-23T08:54:44.814-05:002014-01-23T08:54:44.814-05:00I debated over which name to use, but ultimately w...I debated over which name to use, but ultimately went with "Serena" on the grounds that Sailor Moon is a rare case of the dub being better known than the sub to English-speaking audiences. The main argument for "Usagi" is that that is the name the makers of Madoka would know her by, but in the end I went with the name more familiar for my audience. I would do something similar for Pokemon for the same reason, but on the other hand if I were doing Cardcaptor Sakura I would use the Japanese character names because the dub is (a) so butchered as to be virtually a different show, especially early on, and (b) not as widely watched as the sub because of reason (a).Froborrhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08782366056731381450noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5106243389695628804.post-79121038360016992962014-01-23T08:44:09.191-05:002014-01-23T08:44:09.191-05:00It took me a second to notice, but..."Serena...It took me a second to notice, but..."Serena"? ^_^!
