Video Vednesday: Legend of Korra S4E4 "The Calling" Vlog

I typed "The Callening" like four times, I don't know what's wrong with me. Ikki gets an episode, apparently. Was there demand for an Ikkisode? I don't know, I have very little sense of what's going on in any given fandom, even one's I'm theoretically a part of.

MOAR TOPH PLZ.

  1. I think it's interesting that Toph flat out states that all of Korra's previous opponents were working towards worthwhile things. I think that's appropriate to both Toph's character and the fact that this show is for kids. (Or at least people who were kids when Last Airbender was airing. I think they're teens now?)

Milo comes off as a real jerk this episode, and his misconduct appears to be rooted in notions of masculinity that feel out of step with Airbender culture. I wonder where he picked up all those bad ideas.

It's also part of the general trend of television in the past 5 years or so to start putting major themes directly in the dialogue.

      Mako.

    2. So I'm not totally onboard with your Mako antipathy (he's an incompetent boyfriend but a perfectly servicable tsukkomi) but that's a very plausible theory.
